  8. Hello Derek,
    I have owned older mercedes and vw’s before and would like to ask: are mercedes still all steel? If not until what year did they remain all metal? I am looking for an older version but would like to know what prices to expect for an older convertible? I have discovered I really do not like the new plastic and Styrofoam vehicles available. I just need one that will keep runing for another 300,000 miles like my last one did. (79 four door)

    Sorry for the delay in response but life has been hectic.

    I’m figuring you’re responding to my post located here about the people that refurbish and resell older Mercedes diesel vehicles.

    I’m pretty sure that all automakers have gone to the dark side with the plastic painted bumpers (use the bumpers for their intended purpose and they look terrible!) so you’re probably best off looking for something older and restored.

    I would suggest contacting the people that run 123benzman to find out what they have available or find someone who does the same in your area. There’s also eBay motors which is pretty good for finding these vehicles.
